Prepare for Summer
Sooner than we think – the hot sun will be shining right into our rooms – and we will have long forgotten all the cold winter days we have had recently! So here are some options for blocking out the hot sun and stop the glare that comes with it, especially if you live near the sea. Feel free to chat to us in more detail about any of these options!

Add greenery into your home: Succulents!
Succulents are a great way to add some colour and greenery into your home without the ongoing expense of buying flowers every week. Here are some top tips on growing succulents:
Sunlight – succulents need sunlight but cannot necessarily handle our honest weather – so choose a windowsill that gets afternoon or morning sun only – as opposed to being in the sun the whole day.
Water – one of the great things about succulents is that they are drought tolerant, but they do still need water to survive. So a table spoon of water once a week usually does the trick – but be careful not to over-water or they can rot! You will need to experiment with this one!
Pot – choose a great pot! Terracotta is always the best option as it is very porous, thus allowing more airflow to the roots. This means the soil will dry out more quickly. Ceramics are also generally a good choice.
August was Women’s Month and here at Sharon Mabin Interiors and The Curtain Company, we are proud to say that our company is owned, managed and run by two stalwarts of the Interior Design and Soft furnishing industry. Sharon Mabin and Carolynne Franklin, along with a female staff complement of eight and a male contingent of nine are proud to keep the flag flying high for female empowerment!
